Another time with the chapelle des Pénitents Gris in Villeneuve-lez-Avignon

Splendide et intrigante, la "chapelle des Pénitents Gris", batie au XVIIéme siècle par la confrérie du même nom qui prenait soin des aliénés et des condamnés. Elle est située en retrait de la rue de la République à Villeneuve-lez-Avignon et pour la voir, il faut passer un porche sombre en ogive qui ouvre sur une charmante petite cour pavée au milieu de laquelle s'est endormi un puits. L'histoire semble, ici, s'être arrêtée il y a quelques jours seulement, loin du vacarme quotidien. Calme et volupté d'un passé comme suspendu ravissent le promeneur qui s'y aventure par hazard.

Splendid and intrigant (mysterous), the "chapelle des Pénitents Gris", builded at the XVIIth century by the brotherhood of the same name who took care of the "lunatics" and of the condemned. It's located in withdrawal of the street of the Republic in Villeneuve-lez-Avignon and to see it, you have to pass a dark porch in warhead who opens on a charming small paved yard and in the middle of it, fell asleep a well. The history seems, here, to have stopped a few days ago only, far from the daily din. Calm and pleasure of a suspended past give some charm to the walker who adventures there by hazard.
