La photo ci-dessus montre l'arrière du palais, plus précisément son flanc nord-ouest, altier, debout comme une haute falaise, fortifiée et imprenable, non loin de l'entrée du pont Saint-Bénézet et de l'entrée nord des remparts.
Undisturbable cut stone mass encrusted in the rock of the Rocher des Doms since the XIV th century, the Petit Palais, in first domain of a rich cardinal, the building change of many hands, seeing its architecture evolved with the centuries. Now, the Petit Palais is a splendid building who the Renaissance front is turned towards the place of the palace, doesn't have anything to envy its imposing neighbour, the Palais des Papes. The Petit Palais is a museum who presents a superb collection of any Masters of the Italian Painting from "Trecento" and "Quatrocento" who belong to the Museum of Louvre.
This picture shows the back of the palace, more precisely its north-western side, proud, upright like a high cliff, strengthened and impregnable, not far from the entry of the Saint-Bénézet bridge and the northern entry of the ramparts.
